"I have spent many hours skating on the old Rideau Canal in Ottawa both as a child visiting my grandparents who lived there and on other visits with my own children.

As night descends during Ottawa's 'Winterlude' the skating shacks and little restaurants emit a warming glow across the canal on a cold February evening. The old Chateau Laurier Hotel stands guard in the background rising above Ottawa's brightly lit Convention Center."
